Coach Bart Jennings brings over 38 years of playing and coaching experience to The Classical Academy. Bart developed his passion for baseball at Union High School, where he lettered for three years and helped the team win the 1989 5A State Championship with a record of 42-4. After graduation, he was recruited to Pitch at the Master’s University where he became a closer and still holds the record for the most consecutive innings without an earned run. In the Summer of 1992, Bart was picked up to play a closing role in the Alaska Central Baseball League for Keni Peninsula Oilers and helped win the ACBL Tile and a berth to the NBC World Series. After graduation in 1993, Bart was a pro prospect for the Florida Marlins, Oakland A’s, and Houston Astros however, he took a detour with the Cardinals to Kolon, Germany where he coached and closed games out, and assisted the team to the Germany World Series Title match. In 1994 while playing for the Kern County Royals, he was picked up by the Thunder Bay, Ontario Whiskey Jacks in the Northern League where his professional career ended with a torn rotator cuff injury. Today, however, you can still catch Bart playing the game for the COS MSBL Grizzles and the Colorado World Series team. He plays with fellow TCA players, fathers, and other high school coaches and enjoys every inning of it.
Over the last 10 years coach Jennings has coached our Titans to 6 Playoff berths and 1 State Championship Title game. Since being at TCA, he has been Awarded 4 Coach of the Year awards and has the most Team baseball wins since the inception of TCA at 100-39. Over his tenure at TCA coach Jennings has complied his experience with expectations to the following pillars to guide each team he has the privilege to serve: Purpose, Preparation, Execution, Accountability w/humility, and Love. Coach Jennings wants everyone to know His style of coaching is a combination of all the men who put into him over the years and continue to do so. He believes in team Sports as a conduit to teach our young men about the game and the game of life while having his players reach their full potential as men of purpose, character, and leadership. Bart expresses, “I coach because I love it, and being with the boys gives me a sense of purpose every day. The failures and successes in this game have shaped me into who I am today. We should be confident that we are fulfilling our earthly assignments as coaches and as men. At TCA, it is the Coaches, Players, Parents, Managers, Trainers, and Teams that make the Coach, not the other way around. I am truly grateful for every opportunity to be on the field with our boys. I may be biased, but from my perspective, the best athletes on the field are baseball players—ask Coach Rich and Griffith! Even our Athletic Director agrees!” Bart is still stoked to be married to Lynn Jennings for 29 years. Lynn works at North Campus. They have a daughter, Taylor, who is 22, and a son, Jake, who is 20. Both of Bart's children graduated from the TCA/CP program.
