How is TCA Different from other schools?
Parents look to TCA as a skilled and passionate partner in the educational journey of their school-age children--a journey toward becoming thoughtful, virtuous, and wise individuals, today and tomorrow. Within this values-centered learning community, TCA's dedicated faculty cultivates and unleashes the natural curiosity of learners through a stimulating, classically inspired curriculum.
We encourage you to read our Core Values for more in-depth inquiry into what we believe and how we are different.
Program Opportunities at TCA
The Traditional Program is TCA's regular Monday-Friday school program, elementary students attending half-days on Fridays. TCA does not offer full-day Kindergarten classes. Kindergarten students in the Traditional program attend half-days, either morning or afternoon, Monday through Thursday, with no classes on Fridays.
The Cottage School Program (CSP) is a K-6 language arts program for homeschooling families. Students attend one day (1-6 grade only) or 2 half day (Kindergarten only) sessions per week covering Language Arts and also participate in Art, Music, and PE. Parents are responsible for teaching all other core subjects (Math, Science, Reading, etc.).
College Pathways (CP) serves students in grades 7-12 and is a hybrid online program offering TCA core academic curriculum and electives leading to free early college opportunities at Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) for qualified students. Students carry either a full or part-time load at CP.
How will D20 choice affect my TCA enrollment?
D20 offers choice enrollment opportunities beginning in January for the upcoming school year. TCA is not a D20 choice option. We are a waitlist school, and currently enrolled students automatically move on to the next grade level each year.
Here are a few things you need to know if you are considering submitting a CHOICE application:
- If your child is enrolled at TCA, and you want to remain at TCA, do NOT submit a D20 CHOICE application for another school. If you apply and receive the choice, your child will be automatically withdrawn from TCA. Per policy, you will not be able to change your mind about staying at TCA.
- If your child has accepted a Kindergarten offer, and TCA is your preferred school, do NOT submit a CHOICE application. TCA Traditional and Cottage School Kindergarten students will be removed from TCA’s enrollment if they accept an offer and then CHOICE into another school.
If you submit a choice application to D20 and change your mind, you must notify D20 before enrollment notifications are sent out.
Do you offer transportation or daycare?
Does TCA charge tuition?
TCA is a public charter school and does not charge tuition. School fees are assigned for various field trips, materials, and activities each year. TCA also encourages families to give generously of their time, talent, and treasure. Students are required to wear uniforms and buy appropriate school supplies for class.
Federal assistance with TCA school fees is available for qualifying families through the Free and Reduced Lunch program.
