Sexual Harassment & Title IX
Sexual harassment is recognized as a form of sex discrimination, including unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature, and sexual assault, and is against the law. It is a violation of TCA policy for any staff member to sexually harass students or for students to sexually harass other students. A learning environment that is free from sexual harassment shall be maintained.
Overview
Title IX requires schools to take steps to prevent and remedy two forms of sex-based harassment: sexual harassment (including sexual violence) and gender-based harassment.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
