HS World Language
Welcome to the HS World Language Department Page!
Please see below for information on the goals of our language classes.
Latin: Latin study at The Classical Academy is intended to equip students to read authentic texts in the original Latin and appreciate the linguistic, cultural, historical, and artistic contributions of the Romans to our modern society. Upon successful completion of level 3, a student will be expected to be able to translate a Latin text (at the appropriate level) and understand and explain its historical, cultural, political, artistic, and linguistic context while connecting these ideas to today's society.
French and Spanish: Modern language study at The Classical Academy is intended to equip students to communicate in the target language in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing to the extent that a student would be able to thrive in an environment where French or Spanish is the primary language. Upon successful completion of level 3, a student will be expected to be able to discuss, write, and read about travel, relevant daily life, cultural matters, and basic commerce.
